The range had a facelift in September 1987, so there's pre- and post-facelift. In terms of bodywork, the difference is in the front valance, bumpers, rear tail lights and rear wheel arch. There are some internal differences (mechanisms in the electric windows, engine management, types of engine offered), but nothing fundamentally incompatible
Sep 18, 2013 · The seller believes the part numer for the light corresponds to the post-facelift model. This is possible if the front lens from a pre-facelift model was put on the headlight. Dec 16, 2011 · 2002. For 2002, BMW Steptronic-equipped E39s had their manual shift direction switched to match BMW's SMG (forwards to downshift, backwards to upshift). Also, in 2002 the 540i V8 32V engine power was increased from 210*kW (282*hp) to 216*kW (290*hp) while torque remained the same.

I am not sure what the differences are between a facelift/pre-facelift other than the looks on a 325i but in my 318i the difference is, amongst other things, a completely different engine. The pre-facelift has an engine of very old design (essentially back to E30 era) whereas the facelift has the twin-cam, Double Vanos, Valvetronic engine.
This is a special edition of the E46, the 2004 BMW M3 CSL. It was only available for one model year (2004), and the CSL used the design of the pre-facelift E46 Coupe (1999-2003). However it should be noted that all E46 M3s have this pre-facelift body style, it never received the 2004 facelift that the non-M3 E46 Coupes received.

Prefer the facelift on the e46.maybe I'm biased because I have one. E90 definitely pre facelift!! Especially the coupe just looks right with the BBS sport wheels. The e46 m3 got mini updates. Mini LCI lol Like the led tail lights. The tail lights pre lift on the m3 look garbage and really date the back end.

Jan 9, 2023 · If you're looking to keep your tannin red and just swap to heated seats in that color you're still going to be restricted to pre-face cars anyway, since that color wasn't offered on the facelift cars. I'm with you in so far as preferring the pre-facelift (especially if it has clear corner lights), but I disagree with the notion that the side markers on the pre-facelift E46 go with the lines better. The sidemarkers on the facelifted E46 being placed where the character line terminates is a much better look. Sleber • 10 yr. ago.

Nov 17, 2011 · The facelift nose cone and kidney grills will fit the pre-facelift, but both are required. However, also note that body panels are interchangeable between various models too. The front bumper from any model will fit any other, but the bonnet from a coupe will only fit a coupe and a 'vert. Not a compact or saloon.

The kidney grill is a traditional round grill on the LCI, but pre-LCI has the top of the kidney grill on the hood (looks like a mustache). The headlights and mirrors are also different. LCI looks so much better when it comes to the E90 sedan, the E92 coupe LCI looks more modern bc of the lights, but I think the E92 is beautiful either way. 3.

The giveaway is the shape of the indicators: the pointed end moved from the bottom to the top, and the front wings were reshaped to suit.
